![]() Up until seeing the first trailer for the movie, I had never heard of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughn or Mary Jackson before. They contributed so much of their time and effort into launching the first American into space and successfully orbit around the Earth. There is no doubt that the movie was one of the best ones I had seen in a while, but I was baffled on why it took so long for the stories of these three brilliant women to be told. Once the movie ended, I sat in my seat and tried to gather all that I had watched. Like never before, I realized that society back then was repulsive in what they believed to be just and equal. I sat there in the theater and could not imagine living in a time where anyone had to inconvenience themselves just use the bathroom. All I could do was try to hold back tears during this scene but they came pouring out. She responded in such a way that I suppose appeared brave at the time, but nowadays would seem like common sense. When she returned, she was questioned by her head supervisor on where she went every day for such a long time.
